BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Rowing head coach Steve Peterson has announced the additions of Taylor Ruden as assistant coach and Madi Glatz as graduate assistant coach.
"I am very excited to have Taylor and Madi joining our coaching staff this year," Peterson said. "Taylor returns to her alma mater after three successful years coaching at the US Naval Academy. Taylor knows what it takes to be successful at the national level, and her experiences helping to guide Navy to the last three NCAA Championships, coupled with being a successful student-athlete here at IU, make her the ideal addition to our staff. Madi comes to us after spending the last year as a volunteer coach with the novice at Michigan State. A former successful walk on at Michigan State herself, her knowledge and previous work with the novice program at MSU will be a great asset to us moving forward."
Ruden returns to Bloomington after a three-year stint as an assistant at Navy. While with Navy, she was part of a staff that earned back-to-back CRCA Region 2 Staff of the Year honors as the Midshipmen earned Patriot League titles in her two seasons. She coached the First Varsity 4 boat, which finished 14th place at NCAA Championships in 2018, the highest finish in program history. During her time as a student-athlete in Bloomington, Ruden competed with the Hoosiers' crew team and served as the coxswain for the varsity four boat, that finished in 13th place at the 2015 NCAA Championships and with the varsity eight boat, that placed 16th nationally as a senior in 2016. She graduated from the Kelley School of Business with a degree in marketing.
Glatz joins the Hoosiers from Michigan State where she was a two-year member of the rowing program (2016-18). During her time in East Lansing, Glatz was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and earned a varsity letter in 2018. She raced in the First Novice 8 and Second Novice 8 boats in Big Ten Championships and also was a member of the Second Varsity 4. She stayed on staff with the Spartans after graduation where she was a volunteer with the novice in the 2018-19 season.
