
Hoosiers Travel to Nashville for Commodore Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University men's and women's cross-country team will travel to the Music City as they compete at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt.
Both races will run on Saturday Sept. 14 at the Vaughn's Gap Cross Country located on the grounds of Percy Warner Park. The 8K men's 8K race will begin at 9:30 am EST with the women's 6K race beginning at 10:15 a.m. EST.
The men's field includes Auburn, Belmont, Georgia, High Point, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Louisville, Missouri, Middle Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee Tech, Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Xavier.
The women's field includes Auburn, Belmont, Georgia, High Point, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Middle Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Santa Clara, Southern Miss, Tennessee Tech, UAB, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
Last time the Hoosiers were on the cross-country course, Hunter Moore brought home an individual gold medal at the Miami Opener on Aug. 30. As a team the men finished in first with 21 points. On the women's side, Abi Little led the Hoosiers with a seventh-place finish. As team, the Indiana women finished in third with 70 points.
Eight Indiana runners traveling this weekend will make their season debut in Nashville, Tenn.. Maddie Dalton, Kelsey Harris, Bailey Hertenstein, Dustin Horter, Arjun Jha, Kyle May Bryce Millar and Ben Veatch will toe the starting line first their first meet of the season.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled their 2019 preseason regional and national rankings. On the national scale the men's team checked in at No. 15 in the country. In the Great Lakes region, the IU men came in at No. 3 while the women took the No. 6 spot.
