
No. 5 Indiana Hosts Sacramento State on Friday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will host the Sacramento State Hornets on Friday, Sept. 27 at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on BTN+, with live stats available at IUHoosiers.com.
SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana suffered its first defeat of the season on Tuesday night, falling to in-state rival Butler in Indianapolis, 2-1.
• The Hoosiers are undefeated in the team's last 30 matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, posting a mark of 27-0-3.
• Ian Black leads the team with three goals on the season, while A.J. Palazzolo has a team-high three assists on the year.
NEWS AND NOTES
• The preseason honors have piled up for Indiana sophomore Jack Maher prior to the 2019 season. Maher was the only sophomore named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and also earned preseason All-America honors from both Top Drawer Soccer (Second Team) and College Soccer News (Third Team).
• Freshman Joshua Penn was named to the preseason Freshman Best XI by Top Drawer Soccer. Indiana's 2019 recruiting class was ranked No. 2 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer.
• Maher, along with Spencer Glass and Simon Waever, were named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List.
• In the Big Ten preseason poll conducted by the league's coaches, Indiana was picked No. 1. Maryland was tabbed second, while Michigan was picked to finish third in the conference.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
• The Sacramento State Hornets come to Bloomington with an overall record of 5-2-1 on the season.
• The Hornets are 2-0-1 in their last three matches and already have a win over a ranked opponent this season, beating No. 25 Air Force, 2-0, in Sacramento on Sept. 6.
• Sacramento State appears to be defying expectations for their season, as the Hornets were picked to finish last in the Big West in a preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.
• Former Hoosier standout Trevor Swartz returns to Indiana on Friday as a volunteer assistant coach for the Hornets.

• Friday's meeting between Indiana and Sacramento State will mark the first match between the two programs.
INDIANA UNDEFEATED IN LAST 30 HOME MATCHES
• The Hoosiers are undefeated in the team's last 30 matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, posting a mark of 27-0-3.

• For the first time in program history, Indiana played in five-straight overtime matches to begin the season.
