LOUISVILLE, Ky. – An 78th minute penalty kick proved to be the difference-maker as Indiana Women's Soccer fell to Louisville on Thursday evening at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium, 1-0.

KEY MOMENTS
• Junior goalkeeper Bethany Kopel made a leaping save in the 51st minute, parrying the ball over the crossbar on a free kick to remain scoreless.
• Indiana's first shot on target of the night came in the 74th minute as senior Chandra Davidson sent a ball in from the goalkeeper's right side. However, Louisville's Gabrielle Kouzelos was there to collect the ball at the near post.
• The Cardinals earned the penalty in the 78th minute after the Hoosiers were whistled for a foul inside the box on a corner kick. Emina Ekic converted the penalty kick to put the Cardinals on top.
• Freshman Avery Lockwood looked to answer in the 80th minute, firing a shot from 16 yards out that was saved by Kouzelos.

NOTABLES
• Indiana falls to 1-3-0 on the year while the Cardinals stay undefeated at 5-0-0.
• Louisville held a 9-3 shot advantage.
• Davidson, Lockwood and junior Melanie Forbes had the three Hoosier shots.
• Kopel ended the evening with two saves.
• Freshman Bria Telemaque earned her first career start against the Cardinals. She is now the fourth freshman to earn a start this season.

HEAD COACH ERWIN VAN BENNEKOM
"We did a good job of executing our game plan, the team held their own and competed with Louisville. I think we played with the courage we wanted to see on the ball, but we struggled a little bit once we broke through their first line of pressure to play through the midfield and create opportunities. I thought that we had one or two of the best chances of the game, including a really good chance in the first half. They had more corners and shots than us but both goalkeepers had to make two saves. I'm proud of the effort and the way we tried to play, obviously It wasn't good enough but we now look ahead to Morehead State."
