NOTES: IU Heads to Nebraska on Saturday

OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 120th season of competition in men's basketball and will conclude a two-game road trip Saturday at Nebraska. The Hoosiers are coming off a 59-50 loss at Rutgers, while the Huskers fell 80-68 at Ohio State. IU won the first matchup with Nebraska in Bloomington, 96-90 in overtime on December 13. According to ESPN's BPI, the Hoosiers are projected to have the 2nd toughest strength of schedule in the country for the remainder of the season.

THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He is 187-98 in eight-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. He is 48-35 at IU. Fred Hoiberg is in his first year at Nebraska after coaching the Chicago Bulls. In five seasons as the head coach at Iowa State, he was 115-56.

Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis is averaging a team-best 14.0 points and 7.9 rebounds. Among freshmen nationally, he is 2nd in field goal percentage (62.2%) and blocked shots (35), 4th in free throws made (70), 5th in free throws attempted (100) and 8th in rebounds (134). He is 9th in the Big Ten in rebounding, 4th in field goal percentage and 5th in blocked shots. He has scored 20 points or more 5 times this season, including a 25-point-15 board effort earlier this season against Nebraska.
Junior Justin Smith led the Hoosiers with 15 points against Rutgers and added 7 boards. He is averaging 12.0 points and is 3rd in the B1G in steals (1.4). He was named IU's Male Scholar Athlete of the Month in January. He is in the Kelley School of Business studying Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation. He had 16 against the Huskers in the earlier meeting. Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk is averaging 10.1 rebounds in his last 6 games. He had his first IU double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, the 5th time in 6 games he has hauled in double digit rebounds.
Sophomore Rob Phinisee made his first start of the season and responded with 13 points and 4 steals versus the Buckeyes. He hit 3 3FG in the first half. He had 16 points and 4 assists against Nebraska. Junior Aljami Durham is averaging 10.7 points and leads the team with 45 assists. He had 14 against the Huskers earlier this year. Senior Devonte Green led the Hoosiers with 19 points and 5 rebounds against OSU and is averaging 11.6 points.
ODDS AND TRENDS
IU leads the nation in free throws attempted at 26.4 per game and is second in free throws made per game at (18.1). IU has had 10 players score in double figures at least once in a game this season. IU outrebounded Nebraska, 54-31 in the first matchup. IU is 9th in the country in rebound margin at +8.6.
