Hoosiers Drop Match at No. 1 Texas to Open ITA Kickoff

AUSTIN, Texas – The Indiana men's tennis team came up short in their opening match of the ITA Kickoff on Saturday as they fell 4-0 against No. 1 Texas at the Texas Tennis Center.

After the Hoosiers (2-1) No. 1 doubles team of Bennett Crane and Zac Brodney fell 6-1 against No. 4 Christian Sigsgaard and Yuya Ito, Carson Haskins and William Piekarsky evened the doubles 1-1 with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Patrick Fletchall and Payam Ahmadi battled to a tiebreak at No. 3 doubles, but lost 7-4 in the tiebreak as Texas earned the doubles point.

In singles competition, Andrew Redding and Vikash Singh won their first sets. Both of those matches went unfinished.

Texas won singles matches at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 to earn the 4-0 victory in the match.

Up next Indiana will take on Vanderbilt, who lost 4-2 against Florida State today. That match will take place tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. ET.
