Hoosiers Split Doubleheader at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– The Indiana women's tennis team split two matches on the day as they fell 4-0 against Alabama and rebounded for a 4-2 win over UAB on Saturday.
Jelly Bozovic and Anabelle Andrinopoulos took down No. 51 Moka Ito and Isabella Harvison at the No. 1 doubles position. Alabama evened the doubles with a win at No. 2. Xiawei "Rose" Hu and Alexandra Staiculescu battled, but fell 7-6 (7-4) as Alabama won the doubles point.
Hu won her first set in singles, but did not get to finish her match. Alabama won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to win the match 4-0.
In the second match of the day, against UAB, the Hoosiers fell behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles point.
Indiana won four of the five singles matches that were completed to win the match against UAB. Getting wins for the Hoosiers were Caitlin Bernard, Alexandra Staiculescu, Jelly Bozovic and Michelle McKamey.
Up next the Hoosiers host Kentucky on Friday Jan. 31 at 6:00 p.m. ET at the IU Tennis Center.
