Santos Cantu Q&A
What's your favorite way to spend a day off?
My favorite way to spend the day off is to go on a hike. I also love to take time to pray and read the Bible on those hikes. I usually end the day with a good movie and snack.
Who is one of your role models and why?
One of my role models is Angel Escobedo. He is one of my role models because of how he carries himself in all aspects of life.
Do you have any prematch rituals and if so what are they?
I have one prematch ritual. I always pray and do the sign of the cross before I go out on the mat and compete.
What is your favorite wrestling memory?
My favorite wrestling memory is my senior year state championship tournament because I was able to be apart of something special and I got to see my club and high school teammates accomplish their goals.
Do you have any holiday traditions with your family?
One holiday tradition my family and I have is to spend time with both sides of family and go to church.
Outside of wrestling what is something you are passionate about and why?
I'm passionate about my faith. I wouldn't be here today without God, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit. I love them with my entire being and fill renewed with their presence.
Why did you choose to attend IU?
I chose IU because of the family oriented staff. The coaching staff has an amazing vision for IU and I'm grateful to be a part of it. They want us to be great in all aspects of life and not just wrestling. The academics at IU are also very strong. The atmosphere at IU is something special and I can't wait to be part of that.
