Hoosiers Claim Wins over Xavier, Western Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana women's tennis team won a pair of matches on Sunday as they took down Xavier 4-0 in the morning match and came back for a 4-1 victory over Western Michigan.

The Hoosiers (3-2) started the day against Xavier and won a tiebreak at the third singles position to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match. The teams of Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Jelly Bozovic and Xiaowei "Rose" Hu and Michelle McKamey won at doubles for the Hoosiers.

Michelle McKamey put the Hoosiers up 2-0 with a 7-5, 6-3 win and Alexandra Stailculescu added another point for Indiana with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Caitlin Bernard clinched the match for Indiana with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win.

The Hoosiers won decisively in doubles against Western Michigan, winning 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to win the doubles point.

Andrinopoulos, Bernard and McKamey won for the Hoosiers in singles to catapult them to the 4-1 win.

Up next the Hoosiers travel to Navy on Friday and host Tennessee and Eastern Michigan on Sunday Feb. 9 at the IU Tennis Center.
