
Indiana Earns 11-5 Win at No. 17 East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Indiana University baseball team won its fifth-straight game on Friday, defeating No. 17-ranked East Carolina, 11-5, in the Keith LeClair Classic at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville, N.C.
With the victory, Indiana improves to 5-2 on the season, while the Pirates fall to 7-2.
KEY MOMENTS
• With two on and two out in the top of the first, INF Jordan Fucci lined a two-run double down the left-field line to give Indiana an early, 2-0 lead.
• After the Pirates took the lead in the bottom of the second with three unearned runs, the Hoosiers jumped back on top with a two-run homer off the bat of OF Grant Richardson that was crushed deep over the right-field fence.
• Also in the top of the third, OF Hunter Jessee plated two more for IU with a two-out, two-RBI double to right field.
• C Collin Hopkins had an RBI single in the fifth inning for IU, while Fucci scored another Hoosier with his second RBI double of the game in the seventh.
• INF Drew Ashley had a terrific at-bat in the top of the eighth, culminating with a three-run homer over the fence in left field.
• LHP Braden Scott (1-0) was stellar out of the bullpen for Indiana, pitching four scoreless innings to earn the victory. The hurler scattered three hits while recording a career-best seven strikeouts.
• RHP Connor Manous tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout.
NOTABLES
• The win for the Hoosiers was the third road win over a ranked team this season. IU beat No. 11 LSU, 7-2, on Feb. 16 and No. 30 South Alabama, 4-2, on Feb. 22.
• Indiana had a season-high 15 hits and seven extra-base hits.
• OF Elijah Dunham extended his reached-base streak to 25-games, while INF Drew Ashley pushed his reached-base mark to 17-straight. Richardson also extended his on-base streak to 10-consecutive games.
• Indiana has hit at least one home run in six-straight games.
