
Hoosiers Push Winning Streak to Six Games with 5-1 Win Over High Point

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Indiana University baseball team pushed its winning streak to six games with a 5-1 victory over High Point on Saturday afternoon in the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, N.C.
With the win, Indiana improves to 6-2 on the season, while High Point falls to 5-6.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the first inning, INF Jordan Fucci lined a two-out, RBI single to left-center field to plate the game's first run.
• After a leadoff double from OF Hunter Jessee in the bottom of the fourth, OF Ethan Vecrumba singled him home with an RBI single two batters later to double the Indiana advantage, 2-0.
• IU seized control of the game in the bottom of the seventh when OF Elijah Dunham slapped a two-run single through the infield and Fucci recorded an RBI groundout, making the Hoosier lead, 5-1.
• LHP Tommy Sommer (2-1) was terrific for Indiana, pitching a career-best 8.2 innings, striking out five while allowing just one run to earn the win.
• RHP Connor Manous entered the game with two outs in the ninth and the bases loaded. The hurler ended the High Point threat with a strikeout to earn his second save of the season.
NOTABLES
• The 8.2 innings pitched from Sommer were the most for a Hoosier since Pauly Milto went the distance in a 6-0 victory over Texas Southern in the Austin Regional on June 2, 2018.
• Dunham extended his reached-base streak to 26-games, while INF Drew Ashley pushed his reached-base mark to 18-straight. OF Grant Richardson also extended his on-base streak to 11-consecutive games.
• Indiana improved to 3-0 in neutral site games on the season.
