Indiana Falls to UCF On Day One of Black & Gold Tournament
2/6/2020 9:58:00 PM | Softball
ORLANDO, Fla. – Indiana Softball played their first contest of the Black & Gold Tournament to start the 2020 season on Thursday (Feb. 6) evening. IU fell in six innings to UCF by a final score of 8-0 after five hard fought innings. This was the first of four games the Hoosiers will play during opening weekend.
KEY MOMENTS
HEAD COACH SHONDA STANTON
"We came out with a single and double in the first inning then came to a screeching halt with 37% quality at bats. White made some big pitches in quality counts and we did not take advantage of the limited hitters' counts.
The freebie war is what allowed the game to get out of hand with a negative 10 in that category.
Bright spot was Goodin gave us a good enough start and what looked like our biggest question mark going into the season proved to be encouraging with us getting Josie some live action and Kate did a great job for her first collegiate innings. "
Not the way you want to start the 2020 campaign but we believe in this group and it will be exciting to watch how get better every day."
