NOTES: Indiana Takes on Nebraska Wednesday in Big Ten Tournament

OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 120th season of competition in men's basketball and will be the #11 seed and play #14 Nebraska in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament Wednesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. The winner will play #6 Penn State at approximately 9 p.m., Thursday night. The Hoosiers are tied for 7th in the country with 5 wins over nationally ranked teams (Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State).

THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He is 193-106 in eight-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. He is 54-43 at IU. Fred Hoiberg is in his first year in Lincoln and is 7-24.
JACKSON-DAVIS EARNS ALL-BIG TEN HONORS
Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis was named third team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media and also selected to the All-Freshman team by the league coaches on Monday. He finished the season with 11 double-doubles. His best efforts were a 27-point, 16-rebound performance at Minnesota and a 25-point, 15-rebound effort at home against Nebraska, who the Hoosiers will open Big Ten Tournament play with Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. in Indianapolis. Davis, a native of Greenwood and a graduate of Center Grove High School, was a five-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week honoree. Jackson-Davis is averaging a team-best 13.6 points and 8.2 rebounds. He is just one of four freshman nationally (Vernon Carey, Jr. - Duke, Zeke Nnaji - Arizona and Isiah Stewart - Washington) to lead his team in scoring, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throws made and free throws attempted and blocked shots. In the Big Ten, Jackson-Davis is the top freshman scorer overall (13.6) and second in conference games (12.8). He also leads in overall and conference play in field goal percentage (56.8 and 52.2) and blocked shots (1.8 and 1.7), He is second overall and in league games in rebounding (8.2 and 7.9). He is 7th in the B1G in rebounding, 2nd in field goal percentage and 8th in blocked shots.
BRUNK EARNS BIG TEN SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Graduate transfer Joey Brunk earned the Big Ten's Sportsmanship Award. The Indianapolis native and Southport High School graduate came to IU from Butler and averaged 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 30 starts for the Hoosiers. Senior Devonte Green is averaging 10.8 ppg., and currently ranks 56th on the school's all-time scoring list (942 points). Junior Aljami Durham is 2nd on the team with 76 assists and averages 9.7 points. Sophomore Rob Phinisee, leads the team with 86 assists and had 7 assists without a turnover against Wisconsin. Junior Justin Smith is averaging 10.4 points and leads the Hoosiers with 30 steals.
