Balanced Scoring Lifts Hoosiers To Perfect Hoosier Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– With 10 different players scoring for Indiana Water Polo on Sunday, the Hoosiers finished the Hoosier Invite, 3-0, by beating McKendree, 18-6. The win gives the Hoosiers a 10-game win streak, which is the longest since the 2017 season when the Hoosiers won 12 straight.

Two freshman led the way in scoring for Indiana as Katherine Hawkins and Lanna Debow both recorded hat tricks, which are a career high for both players. Along with Hawkins and Debow, four other Hoosiers scored two goals including sophomore Tina Doherty, who finished the Hoosier Invite with a team-high 12 goals. Freshman Berta Pascual also added an assist, which gave her a team-high seven over the three games played in the Invite.

KEY MOMENTS

Indiana jumped out to an 8-0 lead with 4:57 remaining in the first half with both of Doherty's goals coming during this period.
Pascual scored her second goal of the game to give the Hoosiers a 9-1 lead with 4:00 remaining in the first half.
Hawkins scored her second and third goals of the game on back-to-back goals with 5:16 and 4:26 remaining in the third quarter to give IU a 13-4 lead.
Debow scored her third goal of the game with 4:37 remaining.

NOTABLES

With the win, the Hoosiers improve to 13-5 on the season and extend their win streak to ten games, which is the longest since 2017 when the Hoosiers won 12-straight.
Indiana now leads the all-time series against McKendree, 3-0.
By holding McKendree to five goals, IU has now held 11 teams to single-digit scoring this season. They are 11-0 in those contests.
The Hoosiers were not outscored in a single quarter of the Hoosier Invite and have now won 13 straight quarters going back to the Cal Lutheran Invite and have won or tied 40 of their last 41 quarters.
Indiana recorded a season-high 15 steals against McKendree.
Freshmen scored 12 of Indiana's 18 goals during the game including the final 10 for the Hoosiers, which is the most goals scored by freshmen in a game this season.
Doherty scored two more goals against McKendree, which gave her a team-high 12 goals over three games.
Pascual added two more goals and an assist against McKendree, which gave her five goals and seven assists over the three-game Hoosier Invite.
Debow and Hawkins each scored a career-high three goals against McKendree.
