IUHoosiers.com caught up with sprinter Natalie Price to see what she has been up to and what keeps her motivated during this time.
Where are you at right now?
I'm currently in Bloomington, Indiana.
What is your major?
I'm majoring in elementary education with a minor in Counseling.
How are you interacting with your teammates?
Every week, we do a sprints team wide zoom call, where we all get to catch up with each other. I have also met up with some friends for a socially-distancing hang out. We were all sit six feet apart and had the opportunity to catch up.
How has the adjustment gone to online classes?
The adjustment to online classes went surprisingly well. I was a little worried about it at first, but overall it went pretty smoothly. Getting used to being in Zoom classes was a bit of a struggle.
What gives you encouragement and motivation during this time?
Something that has been motivating me during this has been remembering watching the men win Big Ten's during indoor this year. That was so exciting! I really want to see both teams win next year. So, I'm going to work hard to do my part in achieving that goal.
What is something you and your family are doing to pass the time?
I've taken up a bunch of hobbies. I have been making a lot of paper flower wreaths, I've been painting a lot and teaching myself to play the piano. So far, I have learned several songs which has been a great way to pass the time. I just started to work for the Boys and Girls club at their summer camp. We are currently going through our training and learning how to run a summer camp while social distancing, which is a challenge but I'm really looking forward to it.
What shows are you catching up on?
I recently have been watching the show Dave on Hulu and the show Self-Made on Netflix. I'm also a huge podcast fan. If you ever need a podcast suggestion, I would be happy to help.
What are you most looking forward to when you get back to practice/competition?
I really want to see my teammates again and have people to train with. Training with them makes the workouts so much more fun. I just miss them all so much!
What advice do you give to your fellow Hoosiers during this time?
The advice I would give to my fellow Hoosiers is to make sure they are taking time for themselves. Self-care during this time is so important. I also just hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
