Grae Gosnell Q&A
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
My favorite way to spend a day off is at the beach or out on the boat back home with some of my friends and soaking up the sunshine. I also love to stay in and watch movies and eat popcorn while I am snuggled up with my puppy.
What surprised you the most about being a student-athlete at IU?
What surprised me the most about being a student athlete at IU is the culture surrounding all athletes and how much they care for each other as an athletic community. Every sport cares and supports every other sport thoroughly and I was pleasantly surprised at how invested every athlete is into the family aspect of Indiana.
If you were not playing volleyball at IU, what sport would you play?
I would be swimming if I were not playing volleyball. I swam competitively my whole life and towards the end of my high school career I decided to focus solely on volleyball. I love teaching racing in big meets, there is nothing like competing.
Who is one of your role models and why?
One of my role models is Muggsy Bogues because he is the shortest person to ever play in the NBA and he played on four different teams within his career. He never let his height determine his future and he never let other people's opinions get to him or stop him from chasing his dreams.

Do you have any prematch rituals? If so, what are they?
I must have my V8 peach mango juice and I have my headphones on listening to really loud music and I dance until I get in my zone.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a gold medal at?
If I could turn laughing into a sport, I would win gold medal for sure. I love to laugh at many things and most of the time it is myself. My friends are really funny, and I love to be happy and see others happy as well.
Outside of volleyball, what is something you are passionate about and why?
I am really passionate about singing and I do it all the time. I am constantly singing and listening to music. I know how to read and write music, so I have a deeper appreciation for every genre and more styles.
Why did you choose to attend IU?
I chose to attend IU because ever since I was little, I wanted to go a school where the coaches and teammates were good hearted and passionate, and the academics are impressive, and IU was and still is the perfect mixture of both for me. I am super grateful for the volleyball squad.
