
Jha And Schmitt Lead Hoosiers At Joe Piane Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country completed its time at the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday afternoon. The No. 21 ranked women's squad placed 17th overall while the No. 26 men finished in 14th.
The women were led by Sarah Schmitt who placed 62nd overall and had a time of 17:10.7.
Mariah Wehrle was the next Hoosier across the line and finished directly behind in 63rd. Wehrle clocked a time of 17:11.0. In her season-opening race, Hannah Stoffel saw a time of 17:25.0 to place 91st. Maddie Dalton crossed in a time of 17:31.0 to secure 106th. Mikaela Ramirez nabbed a time of 17:36.6 and finished in 123rd while Ana Barrott locked down a time of 17:53.6 and place 148th. Gracie Sprankle was the next IU runner across the line as she placed 156th in a time of 17:58.9. Lauryn Mick rounded out the field of Hoosiers in 169th and had a time of 18:11.5.
The Indiana men picked up 14th with Arjun Jha leading the way for the Hoosiers. Jha clocked a time of 23:57.6 and placed 18th overall.
Ben Veatch was next across the finish line as he crossed 40th with a time of 24:18.5. Gabriel Sanchez raked in a time of 24:47.0 to finish in 77th. Skylar Stidam placed 83rd and had a time of 24:51.9 before Austin Haskett crossed in a time of 25:06.1 to place finish in 107th. Jake Gebhardt and Carlos Vilches-Ortiz
Up next, the Hoosiers will compete in Madison, Wisc. at the annual Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, October 15.
