BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Men's Soccer (8-3-1, 3-2-0 B1G) returned to Big Ten Conference emphatically with its third straight shutout in a 3-0 rout of Ohio State (4-7-1, 0-4-0 B1G) Tuesday (Oct. 12) night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
IU took advantage of OSU miscues, including a first half red card that left the Buckeyes down a man in the final 45 minutes.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Buckeyes gave Tommy Mihalic space, and the freshman forward made them pay. Coming from the right flank, junior forward Herbert Endeley dribbled into space in the middle of the pitch to draw defenders and then released to Mihalic on the edge of the box. The OSU right back never made a challenge, and Mihalic curled a shot into the far side of the net to give Indiana the lead 18 minutes in.
• Ohio State had a collection of shots in the 23rd minute following a corner. Junior goalkeeper Roman Celentano made a diving stop to deny the initial attempt, the second shot was blocked and the third sailed high off the crossbar to keep the IU lead intact.
• OSU's Owen Sullivan was shown a red card just before the half. With the Buckeyes playing high up the pitch, Indiana took possession in the middle third to open a breakaway chance for freshman forward Samuel Sarver. Chasing Sarver, Sullivan brought him down from behind to draw the foul.
• Ohio State put the ball in the back of the net early in the 63rd minutes, but the goal was waved off due to a foul on a Buckeye attacker.
• Two minutes later junior forward Maouloune Goumballe gave IU a cushion, taking a ball from Victor Bezerra just outside the 18-yard box and slotting it home with his right foot.
• Junior Brett Bebej closed the night with a left-footed finish in the 85th minute. Sophomore Lawson Redmon played a ball from the left edge of the box that got through the Buckeye defense for Bebej on the back post.

• IU improved its win streak against Ohio State to seven matches spanning back to 2017. The Hoosiers have not lost to OSU since 2016 and hold a 12-1-1 record against the Buckeyes since 2011.
• Mihalic's goal was his fourth of the season, bringing him level with Bezerra and Sarver for the team lead.
• The Hoosier defense earned its third straight clean sheet and sixth shutout of the season. Celentano made four saves in the effort.
• Maouloune Goumballe and Brett Bebej each tallied their first goals of the 2021 season.
