BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Field Hockey team obliterated Michigan State 5-0 on Friday afternoon, setting a number of program records along the way. This win sets IU one step closer to securing a bid to next month's Big Ten Tournament in Piscataway.

With the victory, IU moves to 8-7 (2-4) while the Spartans fall to 7-4 (0-4) on the season.

KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana came out on the front foot, earning two penalty corners within the first minute.
• On the seventh shot of the afternoon, IU finally found the back of the net. Sophomore forward Anna Gwiazdzinski tapped a deflected ball out of midair into the goal to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
• In the second period, freshman midfielder Kira Curland put three-straight shots on frame before finally scoring on the third to give IU a 2-0 lead at the break.
• Just one minute into the second half, IU's intensity gave Michigan State struggles once again. Senior forward Hailey Couch tapped in a cross from freshman forward Kayla Kiwak to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
• Freshman goalie Arabella Loveridge made a crucial save with her right pad to preserve the clean sheet.
• Senior midfielder Peyton Becker and sophomore forward Meghan Dillon scored just moments apart in the fourth period to deal the final blow to Sparty on the afternoon.

NOTABLES
• IU pounded 30 shots on the afternoon including 18 on frame.
• Curland scored her sixth goal of the season, tying her for the most goals by a freshman in the Big Ten with six. Curland also recorded eight shots on the afternoon.
• Becker's goal was the first of her season and second of her career. She marks the 12^th IU player to grab a goal this year.
• Couch scored her 13^th-career goal, bringing her into 21^st on the all-time goals list in Hoosier-program history.
• Loveridge's shutout was the fifth of the season for her.
• Today's clean sheet was the sixth of the season for IU, setting a new-program record for the Hoosiers.
• IU's 5-0 victory over Michigan State was the biggest-conference win in program history. It also tied the record for most goals scored against a Big Ten opponent.
