Indiana Dominates Michigan State 5-0 in Record-Setting Fashion

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Field Hockey team obliterated Michigan State 5-0 on Friday afternoon, setting a number of program records along the way. This win sets IU one step closer to securing a bid to next month's Big Ten Tournament in Piscataway.
With the victory, IU moves to 8-7 (2-4) while the Spartans fall to 7-4 (0-4) on the season.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana came out on the front foot, earning two penalty corners within the first minute.
• On the seventh shot of the afternoon, IU finally found the back of the net. Sophomore forward Anna Gwiazdzinski tapped a deflected ball out of midair into the goal to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
• In the second period, freshman midfielder Kira Curland put three-straight shots on frame before finally scoring on the third to give IU a 2-0 lead at the break.
• Just one minute into the second half, IU's intensity gave Michigan State struggles once again. Senior forward Hailey Couch tapped in a cross from freshman forward Kayla Kiwak to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
• Freshman goalie Arabella Loveridge made a crucial save with her right pad to preserve the clean sheet.
