Indiana Shuts Down Ohio in 3-0 Victory

ATHENS, Ohio – After a slow start, the Indiana field hockey team found its stride in the second half to put away the Ohio Bobcats 3-0 on Sunday morning.
With the win, IU moves to 10-8 (2-5) on the campaign while Ohio falls to 6-11 (3-3).
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman forward Kayla Kiwak and junior midfielder Kennedy Reardon had the first looks on goal in the game, both firing shots that were saved by Ohio's goalie.
• Freshman goalie Arabella Loveridge made a quick, right-footed save in the 21st minute to keep the Bobcats off the board.
• Kiwak drove the ball across the end line in the 23rd minute before playing the ball to sophomore forward Jemima Cookson who drove the shot just wide.
• Freshman defender Yip van Wonderen grabbed the opening goal of the afternoon. She collected the ball from senior defender and smashed a one-time effort into the back of the goal.
• Senior forward Hailey Couch added one just seconds later off the deflection to give IU a 2-0 lead.
• Couch put the game to bed in the 55th minute with her second of the afternoon.
NOTABLES
• IU tallied its seventh shutout of the season with Loveridge earning her sixth of the season. With that clean sheet, she moves into third all-time on IU's career shutout list.
• Couch grabbed two goals on the afternoon. This was her second multi-goal game of her career. She now has 16 goals in her career, moving her into the top-15 in IU's all-time goal scoring ranks.
• Curland grabbed another assist, her sixth of the season. With that, she tallied her 20th point of the season, tops for freshmen in the Big Ten.
• Redshirt sophomore defender Sydney Keld recorded her third defensive save of the season.
• IU's 19 goals in its last five games is the most in a five-game span since scoring 19 from 9/11/16-9/25/16.
