Women’s Golf Hosts Courtney Cole Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's golf team will have their first home invitational of the season on Oct. 4-5 at The Pfau Course as hosts of the Courtney Cole Invitational.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
• The tournament is named in honor of Courtney Cox Cole, a two-sport athlete at Indiana from 1990-93. She played for both the women's basketball and women's golf programs.
• Cox was a part of the 1991 NWIT runner-up team and played in 53 games over her career, making 22 starts. She was the team's second leading scorer as a freshman where she averaged 9.1 points (254 points) and was a 1991 Academic All-Big Ten selection.
• Following the team's NWIT run, she ended her basketball career to focus on golf. A standout on the course, the Noblesville, Ind., native made the NCAA Tournament twice with the program in 1992 and 1993. Cole was also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, three-time All-Big Ten honoree and two-time NGCA Scholar Athlete. In addition, she played in 103 career rounds for the Hoosiers, finishing with a stroke average of 78.94.
• A total of 36 holes will be played in the tournament with 18 played on both Monday and Tuesday starting with rolling tee times at 8:30 a.m. ET.
• The scoring will follow the standard play 5, score 4 format for each of the four teams playing with a full lineup.
PREVIOUSLY THIS SEASON
• Indiana started the season earlier this week with a 14th place finish in the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Freshman Áine Donegan had a strong collegiate debut, finishing in a tie for 11th place overall.
• The Hoosiers finished 10th overall in the Badger Invitational in the program's second tournament of the season. Donegan again paced the team with an 10th-place individual finish, her second top-15 outing in as many tournaments to begin her collegiate career.
