TEAM
• The Hoosiers are 7-4 over their last 11 road games.
• Maryland won the coin toss and chose to defer.
• The team voted wide receiver Ty Fryfogle, tight end Peyton Hendershot, linebacker Cam Jones, husky Marcelino McCrary-Ball, linebacker Micah McFadden, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. season captains.
OFFENSE
• Redshirt senior tight end Peyton Hendershot became Indiana's tight ends yardage leader with a career-high 106 yards on six receptions and a pair of scores. He surpassed Ted Bolser's total of 1,337 from 2010-13.
• The North Salem, Ind., native set the tight ends receptions mark last week and has 125, which sits 17th all-time on the program's list. His 14 TDs are second to Bolser's 15 among tight ends in program history.
• Hendershot became the first tight end in IU history to reach the century mark twice, both coming this season.
• He also moved into the Top 10 on the program's single-seasons receptions and yardage list for tight ends. He is fourth with 447 yards and tied for sixth with 35 catches. Hendershot already holds the top spots with 52 receptions. and 622 yards in 2019.
• Graduate transfer Stephen Carr (USC) rushed for a career-high 134 yards on 21 carries with a career-high-tying two touchdowns. Carr has three 100-yard games as a Hoosier and four in his career, and two multi-TD games in 2021 and three in his career.
• He scored on rushes of 1 and 66 yards. The last time IU scored on the ground from 60-plus yards came on Oct. 17, 2015, a Devine Redding 66-yarder vs. Rutgers.
• Senior Ty Fryfogle ranks ninth on the Hoosiers receiving yardage list with 2,164 career yards. Shane Wynn (2011-14) sits in eighth place with 2,198.
• The Lucedale, Miss., native secured four catches for 78 yards in the game to become the seventh pass catcher in program history with 150 receptions.
• True freshman Donaven McCulley went 14-for-25 with 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his first career start.
• McCulley became the third IU true freshman quarterback to start (Tre Roberson in 2011 and Zander Diamont in 2014) and the sixth to see game action (Tim Clifford in 1977, Roberson, Nate Sudfeld in 2012, Diamont, and Michael Penix Jr. in 2018).
• Junior Matthew Bedford made the first start of his career at left guard and has now started at left tackle (8), right tackles (8), and right guard (6) in his career.
• Redshirt sophomore transfer Zach Carpenter (Michigan) made his first start as a Hoosier and his first career start at right guard. He started twice at center in 2020 with the Wolverines.
DEFENSE
• Senior safety Devon Matthews added career-highs in tackles (12) and solos (10), both game-highs, in his 20th career start. He had one TFL.
• Senior linebacker Micah McFadden recorded a sack in the second quarter to give him 5.5 this season and 13 in his career. McFadden now has a TFL in 13-straight games.
• McFadden moved into seventh place with 35.5 career tackles for loss. He closed the game with eight tackles (5 solo), two TFLs, and one sack.
• Junior transfer outside linebacker Jaren Handy (Auburn) set a career-high with seven tackles, one for loss.
• Senior defensive back Jaylin Williams tallied six tackles, all solos, and a PBU.
• Graduate transfer defensive tackle Weston Kramer (Northern Illinois) picked up his first sack as a Hoosier in the second quarter. Kramer now has 4.5 in his career.
• Graduate transfer defensive end Ryder Anderson (Ole Miss) and redshirt junior cornerback Noah Pierre each totaled four tackles and a TFL. Pierre added a PBU.
• Senior linebacker Cam Jones made the 15th start of his career. He had six tackles in the game.
• Redshirt senior outside linebacker Alfred Bryant made the 15th start of his career.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Redshirt junior Charles Campbell kicked a career-long 55-yard field goal in the second quarter, tied for the second-longest in program history. Campbell is 4-of-5 from 50-plus yards in his career and the four 50-yarders are the second-most in school history to Pete Stoyanovich's 6 (1985-88).
• Campbell added a 29-yarder in the fourth quarter and went 2-for-3 in the game. He is 12-of-15 this year (80.0 percent) and 24-of-28 in his career (85.7 percent).
• The Jackson, Tenn., native's 24 three-pointers are tied for 10th on the program's all-time list.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Mile Marshall blocked the first punt of his career and the second for the Hoosiers in 2021.
• Redshirt senior husky Bryant Fitzgerald converted a fake punt in the third quarter on a 25-yard rush.
