Indiana Holds 17-Stroke Lead After 18 Holes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Hoosiers women's golf team holds a commanding lead after the first 18 holes of the Courtney Cole Invitational played at The Pfau Course on Monday.
The Hoosiers shot an 8-over 296 and hold a 17-stroke lead over the Loyola Ramblers (313; +25) with 18 holes to play. The first-round total was the best round for the women's golf team since shooting a 294 on the final round of Westbrook Invitational on Feb. 24, 2020.

CHIP-INS
• Freshman Áine Donegan carded four birdies in the debut round of the tournament to shoot a 1-under 71. Three of her four birdie efforts came on the back nine and she sits atop the individual leaderboard.
• Fifth-year senior Mary Parsons played to an even par in the opening round after knocking in a birdie on No. 14 and converting par on 16 holes. She is second overall with 18 to play.
• Junior Valerie Clancy was 3-over 75 on Monday with birdies on the first two holes of the morning. She also recorded a birdie on No. 5 and is tied for third.
• Senior Alexis Miestowski was the final Hoosier to count towards the team score after shooting a 6-over 78 in her first action since the 2019-20 season. She is t-eighth overall.
• Freshman Beatriz Junqueira shot a 16-over 88 and is t-34th in the individual standings.
INDIVIDUALS
• Senior Arushi Singh led the Hoosier individuals with a 6-over 78. She carded a trio of birdies on the back nine (No. 11, No. 13 and No. 18) to put her in a tie for eighth, second among all individuals in the tournament.
• Junior Hanna Tanaka shot a 7-over 79 and is tied for 15th. She turned in a birdie on No. 13.
• Sophomore Morgan Dabagia converted a birdie opportunity on No. 8 and finished the day in a tie for 22nd with an overall score of 81 (+9).
• Senior Maddie Dittoe snuck into the top-25 at t-24th after shooting a 10-over 82. She holed out birdies on No. 6 and No. 15.
• Freshman Lydia Cryer will be tied for 34th headed into the final round after shooting a 16-over 88 in her first collegiate round. She collected birdies on No. 11 and No. 13 on the back nine.
