
Hoosiers Complete NCAA Great Lakes Regional On Friday Afternoon

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country ran in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday afternoon where they were highlighted by Arjun Jha's ninth place finish.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin earned the automatic bids to the NCAA Championships with 56 points and 69 points, respectively. The Indiana women placed eighth with 222 points.
On the men's side, Notre Dame and Wisconsin also earned the automatic bids to the national meet. The Irish had 37 points while the Badgers collected 87.
Sarah Schmitt and Mariah Wehrle finished almost back-to-back in 27th and 29th, respectively to lead Indiana. Schmitt clocked a time of 20:36.7 while Wehrle crossed in a time of 20:37.1. Maddie Dalton was the third finisher for Indiana and crossed in 50th with a time of 21:03.4. Hannah Stoffel completed the 6K in a time of 21:09.8 to take 56th overall. Mikaela Ramirez rounded out the scoring in 60th with a time of 21:12.8.
Ana Barrott placed 79th and took a time of 21:36.6. Alyssa Skorge completed the field of seven for the Hoosiers and placed 105th in a time of 22:02.7.
Jha crossed in a time of 30:03.3 for a ninth place finish while Ben Veatch was next across in 30th with a time of 30:36.5. Jake Gebhardt picked up a time of 30:37.5 to finish in 33rd. Skylar Stidam finished fourth for the Hoosiers and 34th overall, clocking a time of 30:40.7. Running his first NCAA Regional meet, Gabriel Sanchez clawed his way to a 38th place finish and garnered a time of 30:53.2.
Ben Miller and Austin Haskett rounded out the group of Indiana men in 48th and 70th, respectively. Miller saw a time of 30:59.9 while Haskett nabbed a time of 31:19.4.
Next, Indiana will await their fate to see if they have earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships. The selection show will take place on Saturday, November 13 5 p.m. It will stream live on NCAA.com.
