
Hoosiers Fall 3-1 to No. 11 Nebraska

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Despite taking the opening set, Indiana Volleyball (9-19, 3-13. Big Ten) dropped the Sunday afternoon match to No. 11 Nebraska (20-9, 9-6 Big Ten), 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 22-25, 16-25).
KEY MOMENTS
• The Hoosiers and Huskers exchanged points to open the first set of action. A pair of kills by Kaley Rammelsberg got the Indiana offense going and put them ahead, 9-7.
• Brooke Westbeld served up the first ace of the match to force Nebraska to call timeout as the Hoosiers were up 15-9.
• A kill by Kari Zumach followed by an attack error by the Huskers gave Indiana the 18-11 lead, which was the largest of the frame.
• Letting Nebraska back in the opening set, a kill by Breana Edwards sparked the Hoosier attack as Indiana won the first set in a battle, 25-23.
• Rammelsberg opened the second set of the match with the first kill of the game. Needing life in their offense, Mady Saris found the gap to pull within three of the Huskers.
• After letting Nebraska out to a 19-15 advantage, kills from Morgan Geddes and Rammelsberg gave Indiana a rally, but it came up short as they fell in the second set, 25-18.
• The Hoosiers took the earl 2-0 leads off an attack error by Nebraska and a slam from Geddes. Nebraska and Indiana went back and forth in scoring but three straight kills by the Hoosiers put them ahead 11-8.
• Forcing the Huskers to take a timeout, Rammelsberg and Edwards kept the Hoosiers momentum going as they were up 15-11.
• The Hoosiers let them back in as the score read 18-15. Two straight aces by the Huskers put them ahead 21-20.
• A kill from Geddes and a block from her and Kjolhede attempted to bring Indiana back, but the Hoosiers let up the third set, 25-22.
• Kills from Geddes and Rammelsberg were the only two points they scored before the Hoosiers had to call a break down 6-2 in the fourth set.
• Kjolhede and Edwards tried to put life in Indiana, but the Huskers held a six-point lead, 10-4.
• With Nebraska on their match points the Hoosiers scored six straight points which included kills from Grae Gosnell and Edwards.
• Nebraska went on to win the fourth set, 25-16.
NOTABLES
• Junior middle blocker led the Indiana attack with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .385.
• Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Geddes saw her best hitting percentage of the season at .400 which was also the team best. She raked in a total of eight kills.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede led the squad in blocks with seven.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame tallied a team high 19 digs.
• Freshman outside hitter Mady Saris (16) and freshman setter Camryn Haworth (10) also saw double-figure digs.
• As a team, Indiana won the battle on the block, 11-5.
UP NEXT
The Hoosiers will continue the home stretch with a pair of matches this coming weekend. Indiana takes on Illinois at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 19 before they welcome Iowa on Sunday, November 21 at 2 p.m. Sunday's match will serve as Senior Day for the Hoosiers.
