IUVB Ends The 2021 Home Slate With No. 24 Illinois and Iowa

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Volleyball (9-19, 3-13 Big Ten) continues the home stretch with No. 24 Illinois (17-10, 9-7 Big Ten) on Friday, November 19 at 7 p.m. followed by Iowa (5-21, 3-10 Big Ten) on Sunday, November 21 at 2 p.m. Sunday's match will also serve as senior day for the Hoosiers.

The Opening Serve
• Sunday's match will serve as Indiana's Senior Day. Breana Edwards, Brooke Westbeld, and Kari Zumach will be celebrated for the contributions to the program. The match against Iowa will also be free to the public.
• The Hoosiers are coming off a two-match weekend against ranked opponents. Indiana traveled to No. 25 Illinois on Friday where they fell in straight sets. They then returned home on Sunday to host No. 11 Nebraska in which they were able to win the first set but stumbled to take the 3-1 loss.
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth paves the way for the Hoosiers in the Big Ten, tallying 33 aces so far this season which is the seventh best in the conference.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame continues to lead the squad in digs with 103, which is the eighth most in the Big Ten. She is averaging 4.23 per set played.
All-Time Series
• The Hoosiers are 17-73-1 in the all-time series against Illinois. The two programs have previously met in the 2021 season on Friday, November 12. The Illini were able to capture the 3-0 (11-25, 18-24, 17-25) sweep of Indiana.
• Indiana holds a slight advantage over Iowa in the all-time series, 41-38. The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes have already met this season where Iowa took the match, 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 20-25, 23-25).

They are 24th in the nation, boasting a record of 17-10 overall and 9-7 in Big Ten play. They are coming off a weekend spilt that saw them defeat the Hoosiers, 3-0 before dropping their Sunday match to No. 10 Ohio State, 3-0. Junior middle blocker Kennedy Collins leads the Illini attack with 234 kills and a hitting percentage of .330. She also leads the team in blocks with 107. Senior defensive specialist Taylor Kuper has recorded a team-leading 462 digs and tallied 42 aces. Her 462 digs are fifth in the conference and her 42 aces are the fifth best in the Big Ten. Sophomore outside hitter Raina Terry leads the squad in aces with 46 which is good for second in the conference. Redshirt junior Diana Brown is their main setter and has put up 1,036 assists so far this season. Her assist total is No. 7 in the Big Ten. As a team, Illinois is hitting .217 and has allowed their opponent to hit just .198. The Illini lead the conference is aces with a total of 183 and are averaging 1.87 per set.
• IOWA: Dave Brown and William Tatge currently oversee the Iowa Volleyball program on a interim basis. The Hawkeyes have a record of 5-21 over and 3-13 in the Big Ten. Iowa split their last weekend of action with a loss to No. 8 Minnesota 3-0 (22-25, 14-25, 17-25) in which they bounced back from to defeat Maryland, 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22). Courtney Buzzerio leads the Hawkeye attack with a hitting percentage of .221 on 378 kills. Buzzerio is second in the Big Ten in kills and averaging 4.06 per set. She is also fifth in points with 378. Bailey Ortego is their main setter who has tallied 726 assists so far this season. Hannah Clayton leads the squad in blocks with 72. Amiya Jones has put down 27 aces which is the ninth best in the conference. As a squad, Iowa is allowing opponents to hit .279 while they are hitting .200. The Hawkeyes are third in opponent digs, allowing the foes to tally just 13.35 per set.

• Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards leads the Indiana attack with 338 kills and has tallied 39 blocks. Edwards recorded the 1000th kill of her career on September 10 at Georgia Tech.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg has the best hitting percentage on the team at .344. She has slammed 192 kills and 71 block so far this season.
• Coming off the bench, graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld is the assists leader with 491. Westbeld has also put up 32 and 25 kills.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede is Indiana's lead blocker with 86. On offense, Kjolhede has recorded 140 kills.
• As the Hoosiers starting libero, junior Paula Cerame leads the way in digs with 436.
