Hoosiers Finish Fall Season at ITA National Fall Championships

SAN DIEGO – The Indiana women's tennis team wrapped up competition for the fall this past weekend in San Diego at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Fall Championships.
After winning the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Doubles Championships, Laura Masic and Lara Schneider earned an automatic bid to the national tournament.
In their opening round match, they took on Radka Buzkova/Matea Mihaljevic from Colorado State.
In their opening match the pair battled back from down 5-2 in the first set to take the opening set in a tiebreak, 12-10. After falling 6-1 in the second set Masic and Schneider came up a bit short and lost 12-10 in the third set tiebreaker.
The next day in the consolation bracket Masic and Schneider lost 7-6 (2), 6-0 to Kelsey Mize/ Ludmila Kareisova from Ole Miss.
"Even though they didn't have any positive results from the ITA Fall Championships, I am thrilled that both of them got the opportunity to experience and compete at a national event. "They are both young and have only played together for a month. We are really excited to see what the spring season will bring to them. I believe this off season will be very important for them and the overall team development."
