Indiana Volleyball Falls Against Purdue

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – Indiana volleyball was defeated against Purdue, 3-0 (20-25, 17-25, 14-25) on Tuesday at Wilkinson Hall.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• The first set was played close with nine ties and four lead changes. Indiana opened up a 5-4 lead on a kill from Leyla Blackwell.
• Indiana was the first team to 15 at the media timeout with a 15-14 advantage.
• Following the media timeout Purdue scored three straight points to go up 17-15. Indiana countered and tied the set 17-17 on a kill from Savannah Kjolhede.
• Purdue used a 4-0 run to go up 21-17 and took the first set, 25-20.
• The second set started close as well with a tie 5-5 on a kill from Kjolhede.
• Purdue used a 5-0 run to go up 10-5.
• In the third set, a block assist by Leyla Blackwell and Breana Edwards tied the set 8-8.
• Purdue scored seven straight points to go up 15-8 and closed out the match with a 25-14 set three win.
 
NOTES
• The Hoosiers fall to a record of 2-9 while No. 11 Purdue improved to 7-4.
• This is the 5th ranked opponent Indiana has faced this season.
• Freshman Savannah Kjolhede led the team with seven kills.
• Freshman Leyla Blackwell hit .500 on the night with six kills.
• Emily Fitzner dished out a game-high 19 assists against the Boilermakers. Fitzner now has 171 assists on the season.
• Senior Brooke Westbeld contributed five kills, five digs and seven assists for the Hoosiers.
• Eight Hoosiers recorded digs versus Purdue, led by Freshman Tommi Stockham with six.
