
Indiana Diving Scores Big on Friday

Hoosiers Place Four in Championship Finals
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Hoosier men's and women's diving teams sent four to Championship Finals on the Friday from the diving well at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center at Purdue.
MEN'S 3-METER DIVE
After winning the 2021 Big Ten Championship on the 1-Meter springboard, redshirt junior Andrew Capobianco finished one spot off the podium in the 3-meter event with an NCAA A Standard mark of 414.80.
Junior Cole VanDevender set a career-best mark of 390.20 in the preliminary round to reach the final round. He rounded out the night finishing sixth in the event with a score of 384.05. Both are NCAA B Standard marks.
Senior Mory Gould charted the second-highest score in the preliminary round with an NCAA A Standard mark of 395.20. He missed his two middle dives, but finished strong with two dives sniffing the 70-point range to finish in eighth with 340.10 points.
Senior Seamus Scotty finished 16th out of the Consolation Final with a score of 307.80. He hit an NCAA C Standard mark of 333.30 in the prelims to advance to the finals.
WOMEN'S PLATFORM DIVE
Freshman Tarrin Gilliland improved on her seed entering the Championship Final with a career-best, NCAA A Standard score of 269.75 in the Platform competition. She placed seventh.
NOTABLES
• The men's 3-meter competition marked the first time this season in which Capobianco did not win a springboard event during the 2002-21 season. He held a record of 5-0 on the springboard in the regular season and won the 1-meter competition on Thursday night.
• Hoosier divers registered a total of nine NCAA Standard Scores, including three A Standard marks.
• Gilliland, competing in her first Platform meet of the season, notched an NCAA A Standard mark in the finals.
