
Indiana Softball Drops Series Finale Against Northwestern In A Pitcher’s Duel

LEESBURG, Fla. – It was a battle of the pitchers on Friday afternoon as Indiana Softball (4-5, 4-5 Big Ten) dropped the series finale to Northwestern (9-0, 9-0 Big Ten) by a score of 1-0.
KEY MOMENTS
• Grayson Radcliffe and Gabbi Jenkins led off the contest with a pair of walks in the first. Bella Norton singled to center field to load the bases early. Radcliffe tried to steal home but was caught and two quick outs left the Hoosiers scoreless.
• Emily Goodin got in a jam in the bottom of the first with a pair of singles with two outs on the board. A throw by Taylor Lambert that was caught by Norton at home plate saved the runner from scoring and ended the threat from the Wildcats.
• Katie Lacefield was hit by a pitch to start the second for Indiana. With Tete Hart pinch running for Lacefield, Brooke Benson hit into a double play that retired the side.
• For the next three innings, it was a pitching battle between Goodin and Northwestern's Williams as they sent the batters down in order for the next three innings.
• Jenkins drew a walk to get the first batter on in three innings in the sixth with two outs, but a pop up ended the inning.
• At the bottom of the fame, Northwestern started the inning with a walk followed by the next batter reaching on a fielder's choice. A double to center field brought the base runner home to put the Wildcats up 1-0 heading into the final three outs for Indiana.
• Annika Baez reached on a single to the shortstop that hopped over the second base bag to put a runner on. Pinch running for Baez, Aaliyah Andrews was able to steal second to get in scoring position with two outs. Down to one out Brittany Ford came in to pinch hit but couldn't get anything going as Indiana took the 1-0 loss.
