
No. 13 Indiana Jumps Out to Early Lead, Falls Late to No. 8 Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 13-ranked Indiana University water polo and No. 8 Michigan battled all morning in a closely contested regional matchup, with the Wolverines taking the victory, 13-11.
With the setback, the Hoosiers fall to 8-3 on the season, while Michigan improves to 8-4.
KEY MOMENTS
• Lanna Debow opened the scoring for IU with 3:31 left in the first period to even the score at one a piece with Michigan
• Tina Doherty added a goal unassisted for the Hoosiers at the 2:31 mark in the second period to put IU back up in front 5-4.
• Kallie White scored a goal with just 1:41 left in the first half to out IU ahead 7-6 going into the halftime break.
• Izzy Mandema added back-to-back goals early the third period to extend the IU lead to 9-6 and force a Michigan timeout.
• With just 6:05 left in the match, Zoe Crouch put the Hoosiers ahead 11-9 with an even strength goal.
• Michigan scored the final four goals of the match to secure a 13-11 victory.
NOTABLES
• Debow had three goals and an assist for IU in an impressive offensive showing.
• Mandema did some damage in the offensive zone with three goals of her own.
• Lauren Etnyre recorded four assists and also had a shot on target for the Hoosiers.
