No. 13 Indiana Drops Second Game in Weekend Set to No. 8 Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 13-ranked Indiana University water polo team fell to No. 8 Michigan, 10-3, on Sunday morning at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
Following the defeat, the Hoosiers fall to 8-4 on the season, while Michigan takes its record to 9-4.
KEY MOMENTS
• Izzy Mandema scored back-to-back goals in the first period to open up scoring for the Hoosiers and give them a 2-0 lead
• Michigan responded with four straight goals to give it a 4-2 lead.
• Right before halftime, Zoe Crouch recorded a power play goal with 22 seconds left in the period to pull IU within one goal at the break.
• The Wolverines pulled ahead in the second half despite a number of close looks for IU.
NOTABLES
• Crouch tallied one goal for IU, her 23rd of the season. She also finished with two assists and two steals in a solid all-around effort.
• Mandema had two more goals, her team-leading 37th and 38th of the season.
• Mary Askew recorded eight saves in goal for the Hoosiers.
UP NEXT
IU will be back on the road to open up conference play when it heads to No. 3 Stanford next weekend for a two-game set next Saturday and Sunday.
