"First off, it was just great to finally get back to race. I am so grateful for everyone - administrators, trainers, nurses, the host school - University of Louisville and regatta organizers who made this happen. We definitely came away from this regatta learning a lot about ourselves. Having only a week of practice on the water, and having to overcome so many obstacles and challenges just to get to this point, it's hard to say we were prepared to race. So, we went into each race with specific objectives and goals in mind, beyond just trying to win each race, from which we can build upon. From that standpoint, this trip was a huge success. As for the results - the high points were definitely the Second Varsity 8 winning all of their races, both the Varsity and Second Varsity taking down No. 3 Michigan and the novice winning a close race against the Tennessee novice. But as I started with, the stars of the weekend were the Second Varsity crew. Coming into a race, not prepared for it, and to walk away with six victories, a couple over ranked opponents, just shows the grit and competitiveness of the athletes in that crew. It really has all of us excited about the potential for all of the athletes in that crew."
