
Merchent Earns Third-Straight Top-10 Finish at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Indiana men's golf saw freshman Clay Merchent earn his third top-10 finish in as many events as he ended the General Hackler Championship tied for 8th. As a team, the Hoosiers moved up three spots on the final day to finish in seventh place.

• The teams began on split tees, going off No. 1 and No. 10. Indiana started on No. 10.
• After moving up 23 spots in between the first and second rounds, Merchent moved up 16 spots on the final day after carding a 2-under-par 70. He picked up six birdies on Tuesday, including four on the front nine and finished the event with a 1-under 215. With three top-10 finishes on the year, it is already the most for a Hoosiers since Jake Brown had four in 2017-18.
• Fellow freshman Drew Salyers earned a top-20 finish as he is tied for 19th. He turned in a 73 in the final round with a pair of birdies.
• Senior Ethan Shepherd finished tied for 32nd and shot a 76 Tuesday. He was strongest on the front nine, where he shot 1-over.
• Senior Mitch Davis made one of the biggest jumps of the week as he moved up 33 spots to finish tied for 39th. He improved six strokes from Monday to card a 1-under-par 71 with a trio of birdies.
• Junior Harry Reynolds finished tied for 58th and carded a 78 on Tuesday.
