
Hoosiers Head To Maryland For Two Games

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Field Hockey continues the 2021 campaign in College Park where they will take on No. 10 Maryland. The Hoosiers will face the Terrapins on Friday, Mar. 19 and Sunday, Mar. 21. Friday's match is set for 6 p.m. and Sunday's game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Last Time Out: Northwestern
Indiana traveled to Evanston, Ill. this past weekend where they played two matches against Northwestern. Mary Kate Kesler lead the team in shots with two including one that was on frame except it was saved by the keeper. Peyton Becker got a look on frame, but it was also saved. Sophie Giltrap recorded the final shot for the Hoosiers but went wide. Shannon McNally had 14 saves, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats took game one, 4-0. In game two, Kesler and Giltrap saw shots for Indiana but couldn't capitalize. McNally recorded five save in the 5-0 loss to Northwestern.
Career Firsts
Emma Martin scored her first career goal against Michigan on Mar. 5. She also appeared in her first game and got her first career start during opening weekend. Martin also has two defensive saves on the season.
Freshmen Meghan Dillon, Sophie Giltrap, and Anna Gwiazdzinski have taken their first shots of their Indiana careers. Giltrap leads the pack with three shots.
Preseason Honors Roll In
Prior to the season, the Big Ten announced their Field Hockey Preseason Watchlist. Jemima Cookson, Sydney Keld, and Mary Kate Kesler landed on the list for Indiana.
New Year, New Faces
The Hoosiers add nine newcomers to their roster for the 2020-21 season. Jemima Cookson, Meghan Dillon, Taylor Etling, Brinley Foster, Sophie Giltrap, Anna Gwiazdzinski, Emma Martin, and Shannon McNally join Indiana as freshman. Sydney Keld joined the team in January 2020 as a transfer from the University of Delaware.
Turning to the staff, Will Holt enters his first season as an assistant under Head Coach Kayla Bashore. Holt brings a wealth of experience to Bloomington as he is a member of the US Men's National Field Hockey Team. He also has coached and played for many organizations across Europe.
