BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University baseball team fell to Purdue, 8-5, on Saturday afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Ind.

With the loss, Indiana's eight-game win-streak is snapped, moving the team's record to 8-2 on the season and in Big Ten play. Purdue improved to 2-8 on the year and in league action.

KEY MOMENTS
• With runners on first and second and one out in the bottom of the first inning, freshman INF Paul Toetz lined an 0-2 offering down the left-field line, scoring OF Drew Ashley from second.
• Purdue scored once in the top of the second inning and four times in the top of the third to take a 5-1 lead.
• INF Grant Macciocchi cut into the PU advantage with a RBI single through the left side in the fourth, scoring OF Morgan Colopy who doubled earlier in the frame.
• One inning later, Toetz stayed hot, plating INF Cole Barr with an RBI single to left field.
• In his first career at-bat, freshman Kip Fougerousse hit a pinch-hit double off to right-center field, scoring a scampering Toetz all the way from first base to make the Purdue advantage, 5-4, after five innings.
• Purdue responded with one run in sixth, eighth and ninth innings to take an 8-4 lead.
• In the bottom of the ninth, Barr singled home a run to cut the lead to just three.
• The Hoosiers were able to load the bases with two outs, but the team's rally ended with a strikeout.

NOTABLES
• Ashley extended his on-base streak to 35-games dating back to the 2019 season.
• Ashley and Toetz have at least one hit in all 10 games this season for the Hoosiers.
• RHP McCade Brown (2-1) pitched five innings, allowing five runs, four earned, while striking out eight.
