Gilliland, Peplowski Makes Championship Final

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 15-ranked Indiana University women's swimming and diving team advanced two individuals and a relay to the evening finals at the 2021 NCAA Championships on Saturday morning at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. IU will also have two swimmers competing in the timed finals of the 1,650 Freestyle throughout the afternoon.

200 BACKSTROKE
Senior Bailey Kovac closed out her Indiana Hoosier career with a 26th-place finish in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:55.18.

100 FREESTYLE
Sophomore Ashley Turak placed 29th with a time of 48.96 in the prelims of the 100 Freestyle.

200 BREASTSTROKE
Junior Noelle Peplowski snuck into the Championship Final in the 200 Breaststroke with a career-best time of 2:06.71. She will be seeded eighth in the A Final, marking the fifth-straight NCAA Championship in which the Hoosiers have had a finalist in the event.

Junior Mackenzie Looze placed 22nd in the prelims with a time of 2:09.03, while sophomore Emily Weiss took 24th with a time of 2:09.10.

PLATFORM DIVING
Freshman Tarrin Gilliland advanced to the Championship Final in the Platform Dive after setting a career best with a five-dive set score of 301.85 points. She hit four-straight 60-point dives to close out her card, including a 75.20 gem on her fourth attempt of the prelims.

She will be seeded third in the evening finals, her first-career Championship Final.

The 2021 NCAA Championships will conclude with Hoosier representation on Saturday evening with the finals of the 1,650 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, Platform Dive, and the 400 Freestyle Relay. The action gets underway at 6 p.m. ET.
