BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University offensive lineman Mike Katic was named the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April.
"This past fall Mike made his debut, and first start, for the Hoosiers against No. 8 Penn State," said Allen Kohn, IU's assistant director of academic services for football. "He became a key cog on the offensive line that helped power the program to record heights, while increasing his CUM GPA every semester during the pandemic with personal best semester GPAs. Mike was able to achieve the aforementioned by sharpening his time management and organization skills. A Criminal Justice major, Mike plans to start a career in law enforcement when his days of locking up defense linemen are done."
On the season, Katic started four games at left guard and played in six overall. He helped Indiana led the Big Ten (T-17th nationally) in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.25). The Hoosiers also finished fourth in the conference in scoring (28.9), fifth in passing offense (250.9) and fifth in time of possession (31:15).
