Cowper Named Scholar-Athlete For The Month Of April

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana novice rower Ara Cowper has been named the IU Scholar-Athlete of the month of April.

Ara Cowper is a great example of academic excellence. Ara is a high achiever inside the classroom where she was a Dean's list student last semester," assistant director of academic services Allen Kohn said. "As a student-athlete, she finds the time to pursue her goals of a career in sports media, as she writes for the IDS and covers Men's Tennis. She recently applied and received the opportunity to cover the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament for CBS, another example of her pursuit for excellence. Ara shows no signs of slowing and there is no doubt she will achieve great success during and after her time at Indiana University."

Copwer has been a part of the Novice 8 boat for the Hoosiers in both of its races this season, rowing in both the five seat and the six seat. The Union City, Ind. native is majoring in sports media.
