BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer earned its sixth conference win as it defeated Michigan State, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Armstrong Stadium to tie the program record of most conference wins.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana (6-4-0) struck first in the 23rd minute. Freshman Jennifer Blitchok launched it ahead to classmate Gabi Rennie crossed over her defender on the breakaway using her left foot to fire it into the back of the far-left post for her first collegiate goal.
• In the 47th minute, Michigan State's Sydney Kloosterman found the equalizer after receiving a pass from midfield for the breakaway about five yards into the goalie box to tie the game at the half.
• Coming out of the locker room, sophomore Avery Lockwood earned herself a penalty kick in the 47th minute. Lockwood faked the goalkeeper left as she used her right foot to find the right side of the back of the net which proved to be the gamewinner.
• Indiana's defense held the Spartans (1-8-1) to only three shots in the second half. MSU saw its best opportunity in the 72nd minute from defender Raegan Cox who took a shot on target only for it to be saved by Indiana's goalkeeper Bethany Kopel.
