Indiana Women’s Tennis Comes up Short Against Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team battled, but didn't have enough to take down Purdue on Sunday as the Boilermakers claimed a 5-2 victory.

The Hoosiers got off to a solid start by winning the doubles point. It took the No. 3 doubles pairing of Caitlin Bernard and Mila Mejic to come back from down 5-1 and stave off multiple match points before they prevailed 7-6.

Alexandra Staiculescu won 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles positon and the score was even, 2-2.

All three remaining singles matches came down to third sets and Purdue was able to carry each of the three to win the match.

Up next the Hoosiers host Wisconsin and Minnesota, March 12 and 14 in Bloomington.
