
Merchent Earns Second Top-10 Finish at Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Indiana men's golf concluded in the Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island on Tuesday with freshman Clay Merchent earning a tie for ninth place.

• The Hoosiers turned in their best round of the event on Tuesday, improving by five strokes from Monday's first two rounds.
• Merchent earned his second top-10 finish in as many events as he was tied for ninth. He tied his career low with a 69 on Tuesday, highlighted by his first career eagle on No. 8. Merchent also picked up five birdies and improved by two strokes in every round.
• Junior Harry Reynolds turned in his best round of the week with a 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday, moving up 15 spots to finish tied for 23rd with a total tournament score of 1-over-par 217. He was especially impressive on the back nine, carding three birdies and shooting 2-under. He parred or birdied every hole but two.
• Senior Ethan Shepherd finished tied for 30th and turned in a 2-over 74 in the final round. Shepherd birdied No. 10 and was 2-over for the week with a 218.
• Junior Mitch Davis finished tied for 35th, moving up three spots from Monday. He shot a 73 in the final round with four birdies.
• Freshman Drew Salyers moved up six spots and finished tied for 42nd after carding an even-72 in the final round. He was strongest on the front nine as he picked up a pair of birdies on the way to a 34.
