
Indiana Track & Field Heads South For Weekend Two

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field is headed down to the Sunshine State this weekend to compete at the first of two neutral site Big Ten meets. Competition will get started on Friday, Apr. 2 and finish on Saturday Apr. 3. The meet will take place on the campus of North Florida.
Indiana Schedule of Events
Men's Friday Events— long jump open, high jump, pole vault, 110m hurdles (prelims), shot put open, 400m invitational, long jump invitational, 100m (prelims), 400m hurdles invitational, hammer throw, 800m invitational, 1500m invitational, and shot put invitational
Women's Friday Events— long jump open, pole vault, 100m hurdles (prelims), shot put open, 400m invitational, long jump invitational, high jump, 100m (prelims), hammer throw, 800m invitational, 1500m invitational, and shot put invitational
Men's Saturday Events— discus open, 4x100m relay, 400m open, 800m open, 200m invitational, triple jump open, 200m open, and 4x400m relay
Women's Saturday Events— triple jump invitational, discus invitational, 4x100m relay, 400m hurdles open, 400m open, 800m open, 200m invitational, triple jump open, 200m open, discus open, and 4x400m relay
Last Time Out: Big Ten Indiana Invitational #1
The Hoosier opened the outdoor campaign with the Big Ten Indiana Invitational No. 1. The jumps squad highlighted the weekend by five individuals picking up personal bests and winning five events. Leah Moran 6.28m (20' 7.25"), Dom Day 7.34m (24' 1"), and Kynton Grays 7.14m (23' 5.25"), Treyton Harris 7.87m (25' 10"), all set personal records in the long jump. Moran also added a PR in the triple jump with a mark of 13.25m (43' 5.75"). Harris and Moran went on to win the long jump and Moran also picked up the victory in the triple jump. Hope Purcell and Jyles Etienne swept the high jump for the Hoosiers. Nathan Stone tied for first in a late pole vault competition that saw him clear a personal best of 5.45m (17' 10.5"). On the women's side, Anna Watson won with mark of 4.20m (13' 9.25").
On the track, Joely Pinkston highlighted the meet for the Hoosiers by turning on the jets in the final 200m to take silver in the 1500m with a time of 4:32.65. Alyssa Robinson also picked up second in the 400m in a time of 55.43. This was Robinson's first outdoor meet as a Hoosier. Shaton Vaughn competed in the 400m hurdles where he placed fourth and clocked a time of 53.25. The men's and women's 4x400-meter relay squads ended the meet for Indiana where they took third and fourth, respectively.
NCAA Indoor Championships
Five Individuals and one relay earned their spot in the 2021 Indoor Track & Field Championships. Rikkoi Brathwaite highlighted the weekend by taking home bronze in the 60m. Ben Veatch broke to indoor school record in the 5000m with a time of 13:33.50 which was good for eighth place. The DMR squad comprised of Teddy Browning, Shaton Vaughn, Cooper Williams, and Arjun Jha garnered seventh and clocked a time of 9:34.30. Maddy Pollard finished seventh in the shot put, heaving a distance of 16.99m (55' 9").

The USTFCCCA Announced their mid-season program of the year watchlist on Monday afternoon. The Indiana Men currently sit in sixth as they shift to the outdoor slate.
Seniors Make Return
Due to the cancelation of the 2020 outdoor season because of the ongoing cOVID-19 pandemic, The NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to those seniors who were unable to compete in their final outdoor season. Returning to the squad for the 2021 outdoor campaign are Adam Coulon, Khayla Dawson, Kelsey Harris, Treyton Harris, Leah Moran, Kyle Mau, Mallory Mulzer, and Joely Pinkston.
