
Indiana in First Place After Day One of Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana men's golf opened play in a pair of tournaments hosted by Purdue on Saturday with the team currently leading the Boilermaker Invitational. The second round was halted due to darkness but the Hoosiers completed their round to end the day in first place, led by three in the top-5 of the player leaderboard. Meanwhile, Brock Ochsenreiter currently leads the Boilermaker Individual event.

• Four groups had their second rounds halted due to darkness and will resume in the morning. All five members of the Hoosier lineup were able to complete the round.
• As a team, the Hoosiers are 10-under on the day, carding a 280 in the opening round and a 286 in the second. The 280 is the second-best round for IU this season.
• Freshman Clay Merchent is in second place after recording a new career-best round of 67 in the second 18. He was 5-under on the front nine as he picked up five birdies. In the opening round, he shot an even-72 and is five-under on the day, just one stroke back of the leader.
• Junior Mitch Davis is 4-under to sit in third place, carding a 69 and 71 on Saturday. Davis had four birdies in each round and tied his season-best with the 69.
• Freshman Drew Salyers is tied for fourth place and also delivered a 69 in the first round as he parred or birdied every hole. He carded an even-72 in the second round and was 3-under on the day.
• Senior Ethan Shepherd and junior Harry Reynolds are both tied for 36th place. Both shot a 1-under in the first round before carding a 76 in the second.

• Indiana has five competing in the Boilermaker Individual. Both rounds were completed on Saturday.
• Ochsenreiter shot a 69 in the first round before carding a 68 in the second round. It's his best round since shooting a 64 in the second round of the Steelwood Collegiate in Oct. 2018. Ochsenreiter is 7-under heading into the final round with a two-stroke lead.
• Sophomore Eric Berggren is tied for fourth place at 1-under after carding a 72 and 71, respectively. The 71 is a new career-best.
• Senior Evan Yakubov is tied for 14th at 1-over. He shot a 71 in the second with five birdies and made the turn at 3-under.
• Senior Tate Heintzelman is tied for 25th place at 4-over. Sophomore Drew Giacchetto is in 35th place at 11-over.
