
IUFH Gets 3-2 Victory In Overtime Thriller

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Seconds into the first overtime period, Emma Martin found Peyton Becker for the game-winning goal as Indiana Field Hockey (1-12, 1-12 Big Ten) prevailed over Michigan State (1-12, 1-12 Big Ten) on Thursday afternoon.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Spartans got off to a hot start scoring both of their goals in the first five minutes of action in the first period.
• It was all Indiana in the second quarter as they started off the frame with back-to-back penalty corners. Meghan Dillon and Mary Kate Kesler fired off shots on the first corner but a shot was blocked and the second went wide.
• On the second penalty corner, Martin inserted the ball where Kesler got a rocket to hit the back board of the cage to cut into the Michigan State lead.
• Later on, Anna Gwiazdzinski dribbled through the circle and smacked a back-handed shot past the defenders to tie the contest 2-2 headed into halftime.
• Kesler opened the last 15 minutes with a shot that nearly missed the net and hit post.
• Michigan State earned a penalty corner with 11 seconds left in regulation. Sachi Ananias came up with a pair of clutch saves to push the game to overtime.
