Indiana Softball Hosts Weekend Series Against Ohio State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball (11-13, 11-13 Big Ten) is back at home this weekend for four games against the Ohio State Buckeyes. (13-10, 13-10 Big Ten).
First Pitch
The series will kick off on Friday, April 16 at 4 p.m. The series will continue with a doubleheader Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and conclude with a game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Sunday game will be televised by the Big Ten Network with Lisa Byington and Elise Menaker on the call.
Checking Out The Competition
The Buckeyes come into the weekend with a 13-10 overall record. Last week Ohio State won one of four games against Michigan. The Buckeyes are hitting .264 as a team on the season and are led in hits by sophomore second baseman Tegan Cortelletti with 28 hits. Cortelletti is hitting .368 on the season. Catcher Sam Hackenbracht is hitting .327 on the season with 17 hits including five home runs. In the circle Payton Buresch has an era of 1.90 and a 6-2 record in 73.2 inning pitched. Allison Smith has pitched 69 innings with a 2.33 era.
Last Time Out
Indiana won three out of four games on the road at Purdue last time out. The Hoosiers outscored Purdue 18-10 in those four games. Gabbi Jenkins broke the Indiana program record for career stolen bases and now has 91. Emily Goodin pitched 18.1 inning in the series and earned two wins in complete games. Goodin struck out eight of her series 16 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Purdue on Friday night. Grace Lorsung hit .556 for the series with five hits in nine at bats. Lorsung homered in the second game of the series and had 5 RBI in the series. Aaliyah Andrews had six hits in the series and hit .429. In the series finale the Hoosiers came back from down 5-2 to win it 7-5. They had 12 hits in the game.

• Gabbi Jenkins leads the Big Ten and NCAA in stolen bases in a single game with six. Jenkins leads the Big Ten with 19 stolen bases. Jenkins ranks 15th in the NCAA in stolen bases per game.
• Jenkins has 91 career stolen bases and broke the record of 90 set by Aimee Lonigro in 1996. She broke the program single game stolen base record already this year with six against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
• As a team, the Hoosiers ranks fourth in the country in stolen bases at 2.80 per game. Indiana is +43 in stolen bases vs. their opponent this season.
• Grayson Radcliffe leads the Hoosiers in RBI with 11.
• Brittany Ford hit her first career grand slam in game one against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
• Katie Lacefield and Taylor Lambert had their first home runs of the season on Mar. 13 during game two against Rutgers.
• Aaliyah Andrews leads the Hoosiers in batting average at .333.
• Macy Montgomery hit her first career single in the Mar. 28 game against No. 25 Michigan.
• Brooke Benson recorded the first walk off of her career when she hit a RBI double in the 11th inning to help the Hoosiers prevail and get the sweep against Rutgers.
