
Hertenstein’s School and Facility Record Highlights Night One of Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field wrapped up night one of the fourth weekend of competition on Friday. Bailey Hertenstein highlighted the night with school and facility record in the 5000m
Big Ten Indiana Invite No. 3 – Bloomington Ind.
Running a near perfect race, Hertenstein clocked a time of 15:38.01 which broke the school record along with the facility record. The program record was set by Katherine Receveur in the 2018. Her time was also a personal best in the event.
In the men's race, Ben Veatch battled back to garner fifth and a time of 13:52.44. Arjun Jha crossed in 10th and had a time of 14:00.78. Jake Gebhradt won his section in a time of 14:04.08 to place 11th overall.
Kelsey Harris received silver in the 800m with a time of 2:04.37. Her time is her fastest in an IU uniform. Hannah Stoffel crossed in a time of 2:08.33 to place fourth in a stacked field. In the men's race, Teddy Browning notched sixth in a time of 1:53.96.
Clocking a time of 3:44.01, Kyle Mau captured fourth place in the 1500m. Dustin Horter picked up a ninth place finish with a time of 3:46.32.
Keelan Grant competed in the 3000m steeplechase where he nabbed a time of 9:23.00.
Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard went one-two in the shot put as Dawson secured a mark of 17.93m (58' 10"). Pollard heaved the put a distance of 17.33m (56' 10.25). The duo returned in the discus where Dawson notched a mark of 53.56m (175' 8") to come in third while Pollard saw a distance to of 51.40m (168' 7") to place fourth.
Logan Targgart competed in his first meet a Hoosier and took the top prize with a mark of 62.10m (203' 9"). Nick Lane was the runner-up and had a distance of 59.49m (195' 2"). On the women's side, Princess Brinkley kicked off the meet for the Hoosiers in the women's hammer throw. Brinkley secured a mark of 53.65m (176' 0") to placed second.
Shaunyae Sowell won the long jump with a mark of 5.60m (18' 4.5") while Nichole Flowers took second and saw a mark of 5.22m (17' 1.5").
Grayson Rolen cleared a height of 1.96m (6' 5") as he was the only competitor in the men's high jump.
As the lone competitors in the pole vault, Kara Deady saw a mark of 3.80m (12' 5.5") and on the men's side Tyler Sierks cleared a height of 4.80m (15' 9").
Husker B1G Invite – Prairie View, Texas
Alyssa Robinson and Rikkoi Brathwaite won their section of the 100m to advance to Saturday's final. The women's final will be ran at 4:25 p.m. ET while the men will compete at 4:35 p.m. ET.
Shaton Vaughn picked up fourth in the 400m hurdles after clocking a time of 52.47.
On a windy afternoon, Leah Moran captured silver in the long jump with a mark of 6.26m (20' 6.5"). Paola Fernandez-Sola came in fifth and saw a mark of 6.00m (19' 8.25"). In the men's field, Treyton Harris jumped a mark of 7.40m (24' 3.5") to place fourth.
Hope Purcell ended day one of the heptathlon in second place after capturing 3,153 points through the first four events. Purcell picked up a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 11.15m (36' 7").
