
Hoosiers Split Doubleheader with Buckeyes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team won a five inning 8-0 contest in game one and nearly came back from down 8-2 in the second game, but Ohio State won game two 10-9 on Saturday at Any Mohr Field.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Hoosiers scored three runs all with two outs in the second inning of the opening game. Gabbi Jenkins doubled to left center to score two of the runs. Taylor Lambert singled and advanced to second and earned an RBI to score the third run.
• In the fourth inning Grayson Radcliffe walked, Macy Montgomery singled and Grace Lorsung drove in Radcliffe. The Hoosiers scored two runs in the fourth to go up 5-0.
• The Hoosiers put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Abby Meeks entered the game to pinch run and scored a run. Jenkins singled to drive in Lambert and Brooke Benson scored to end the game for the Hoosiers.
• Indiana fell behind in the second game 8-2 when the Buckeyes scored four runs in the first, two in the third and two in the fifth.
• Taylor Lambert led off the fifth inning for the Hoosiers with a home run to right field. After a single from Jenkins, Grayson Radcliffe put a charge into a ball that headed for the scoreboard in left field for a home run. A single from Katie Lacefield drove in Juvia Davis to bring the Hoosiers to within two at 8-6.
• In the top half of the sixth inning Ohio State homered to go up 9-6.
• With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Grace Lorsung hit a three-run home run to tie the game 9-9.
• Ohio State went ahead 10-9 in the top half of the eighth inning with a single, a walk and an RBI single.
• In the bottom half of the eighth inning the Hoosiers loaded the bases but could not covert and Ohio State secured the 10-9 victory.
NOTABLES
• Indiana moves to 13-14 on the season and Ohio State is now 14-12.
• Emily Goodin got the victory in the first game for the Hoosiers as she pitched five innings and gave up two hits with five strikeouts. Goodin now has a total of 512 career strikeouts.
• Goodin has pitched 14.1 inning in the series with a 1.26 era and 16 strikeouts.
• Gabbi Jenkins recorded three hits and five RBI in the game one victory over Ohio State.
• For the series Gabbi Jenkins is batting .636 with seven hits and six RBI.
