Hoosiers to Honor Four on Senior Day
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (7-1-0) will honor four seniors: Ian Black, Spencer Glass, A.J. Palazzolo and Thomas Warr as they play their final regular season home match on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Sunday, April 4.
IU will host Maryland (4-3-1) on Senior Day with first kick is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on BTN. Dean Linke (PxP) and Patrick Doody (Color) will be on the call. Live stats will be available at IUHoosiers.com.
NEWS AND NOTES
• A Hoosier win or draw would give Indiana its third-straight Big Ten Conference regular season title and 17th in program history.
• Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley earned his 150th-career win, including a mark of 144-50-39 in his illustrious tenure at the helm of the Hoosiers, on March 23.
• In the program's last 44 Big Ten regular season matches Indiana holds a record of 33-2-9.
• Redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass suffered a season-ending injury (tibia) against No. 11 Michigan.
• Sophomore keeper Roman Celentano claimed Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the third-straight week, and fourth time in his career. He earned the award after making six saves in shutout victories over Northwestern (3-0) and No. 11 Michigan (1-0 2OT).
• Redshirt sophomore forward Ryan Wittenbrink earned his first-career conference accolade when he was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the golden goal against the Wolverines on March 27.
LAST TIME OUT
• A fast restart attempt led to the match-winning goal in the 1-0 (2OT) result against the No. 11 Michigan Wolverines. Wittenbrink unleashed a right-footed strike from the top of the 18-yard box that froze the Michigan keeper before finding the back of the net.
• Celentano earned his 17th-career victory and the seventh of his sophomore campaign. In 22 career starts, the keeper has conceded just 10 goals with 13 clean sheets. He has allowed a goal or less in 21 of his career starts.
• The victory marked the first IU win over a ranked team this season and first ranked triumph since taking down No. 19 Kentucky (3-0) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 24, 2019.
SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
• The Maryland Terrapins, under the direction of head coach Sasho Cirovski, are one of the hottest teams in the Big Ten. The Terps started slow out of the gate, losing the opening three matches before rebounding to earn results in five-straight to post a record of 4-3-1.
• Redshirt senior forward Paul Binn paces the Terrapins in goals scored (3), total points (7) and game-winning goals (2). Freshman midfielder Ben Bender has scored two goals and leads Maryland in shots (20) and shots on goal (8).
• Maryland is 3-0 with sophomore keeper Niklas Neumann in net. He has allowed just two goals in his three starts and has made six saves on the year.
• The two programs have combined to win five of the last seven Big Ten Conference regular season titles and six of the last seven conference tournament crowns.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana and Maryland have played 16 times on the pitch. Both programs have scored 18 goals in those 16 matches, but Indiana holds the slight series edge, 5-4-7.
