
Hoosiers Get the 4-1 Victory Over Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa. – Indiana Softball returned to action on Friday afternoon when they took on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Back-to-back homeruns by Aaliyah Andrews and Annika Baez sent the Hoosiers passed the Hawkeyes, 4-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• On the first pitch of the game on Friday afternoon, Gabbi Jenkins singled to left field off an error by the Hawkeyes short stop. Although the Hoosiers offense was alive to start the day, a quick out and a double play ended the first inning.
• Emily Goodin retired the first six batters she faced to keep the game scoreless.
• In the third inning, Iowa put runners on the base paths threatening to strike first. A pop out and fly out got the first two outs while Andrews had a diving catch to retire the side
•Amber Linton then entered the circle for the Hoosiers in the fourth as Iowa started to see base production.
• The Hawkeyes got on the board first in the fourth inning with a RBI single.
• Down to the final out of the sixth inning for Indiana, Bella Norton cracked a RBI single that plated Grayson Radcliffe and tied the game at 1-1.
• After neither team could get anything going in regulation, the two teams headed to extra innings.
• Indiana's bats came alive in the ninth inning when Aaliyah Andrews recorded a two-run homerun that sailed past the center field wall to put the Hoosiers on top by two.
• Baez dinged one over the left field fence in the same inning that padded the Indiana lead.
• With Goodin back on the mound, the Hoosiers collected a quick three outs to get the 4-1 victory on Friday afternoon.

• Aaliyah Andrews hit her first career homerun in the ninth inning. Andrews also saw her first multi-hit game with two hits.

• Emily Goodin received the win and is now 4-6 on the season. Goodin allowed just two hits and no runs through 5.1 innings pitched.
